Is AGEM only for certain bargaining units?
No, AGEM is open to any Maine State
employee who is a member of a bargaining unit that has chosen not to renew
their contract with their current bargaining agent by going through the Decertification
process.
Will you have to join AGEM in order to participate in the group-rate income protection insurance benefit?
No. The group-rate income protection insurance benefit is a benefit that we feel all state employees should have access to. Even if you are a member of, or are represented by another bargaining agent, you can still participate in this great benefit. No hidden fees, no hidden agenda, just straight forward access to a very important benefit.
Will AGEM enforce a "service fee" if I choose not to join AGEM?
No. AGEM does not believe in forcing anyone to join or support any organization that they don't believe in. We believe in freedom of choice and freedom of association. We also believe, that as we continue to develop and grow, employees will want to be apart of our great organization.
Is AGEM affiliated with any other organization?
No. AGEM is completely independant of any other organization. AGEM is made up of volunteer state employees. Any dues collected by AGEM will stay right here in Maine and go directly towards representing employees with minimal overhead expenses.
